Labels & Lists (EAV)

The Labels & lists page manages EAV (Entity-Attribute-Value) catalogs used for case labels, file tags, note labels, and other pick lists.

Access

Organization Admins only — Settings → Labels & lists (/hats/eav).

Attribute groups

The page lists attribute groups (catalogs), such as:

• Case labels
• File labels
• Note labels

Click a group to manage its values.

Manage list values

For each attribute group:

1. View existing values in the table.
2. Add a new value with label and optional metadata.
3. Edit an existing value to rename or update.
4. Delete obsolete values (confirm impact on existing tagged records).

Changes propagate to selectors throughout the portal (case label modal, file upload tags, etc.).

Tag bindings

Advanced tag-to-entity bindings may be managed from Settings → Tags (/hats/tags) when your organization uses entity-specific tag maps.

Org admins map entity keys to EAV attributes for specialized tagging rules.

Impact on users

After updating catalogs:

• Case labels filters and modals show new values immediately.
• File upload tag selectors include new file labels.
• Note labels appear in the note editor.

Best practices

• Use consistent naming conventions across catalogs.
• Deactivate or retire labels instead of deleting when historical data exists.
• Communicate catalog changes to staff before removing widely used labels.
