Case Assignment Roles

Case assignment roles describe functional responsibilities on a specific case. They are separate from your portal login role (org_admin, vendor_user, etc.).

Assignment roles are managed on the case User Assignments tab by Organization Admins only.

Available assignment roles

Assign someone to a role

  1. Open case detail → User Assignments tab.
  2. Click Add assignment.
  3. Select the assignment role from the list above.
  4. Search for the user to assign.
  5. Save.

Multiple assignments

A case can have multiple people assigned to different roles. One person may hold more than one role on the same case when appropriate.

Assignment vs. hearing attorneys

  • User Assignments — Functional staff roles on the case (Case Manager, Negotiator, etc.)
  • Hearing attorneys — Counsel assigned to a specific hearing date (managed on hearing detail)

Portal role vs. assignment role

A user with portal role org_user might be assigned as Negotiator on one case and Case Manager on another.
